In 2008 the Australian Government established and independent body known as Infrastructure Australia. Infrastructure Australia was created as a way for the government to receive informed independent reports on proposed infrastructure projects.
For the first time a comprehensive report forecasting the future of projects in Australia has been compiled through the research obtained through two separate reports: The Australia Infrastructure Audit and the Northern Australia Infrastructure Audit.
The result is a 15-year plan on infrastructure, Infrastructure Plan, which was released on the 17th of February and includes 78 recommendations.
As per the Austrade update, the Infrastructure Plan covers four areas of recommendations:
• Productive Cities, Productive Regions
• Efficient Infrastructure Markets
• Competitive Markets
• Better Decisions and Better Delivery
This report will open discussion for both state and federal governments on meeting the needs of the growing population through infrastructure.
